Infant/toddler care givers receive comprehensive training at no cost. Training is based on a nationally recognized curriculum.

Family child care providers are reimbursed for nutritious meals served to children in their care. Nutrition training is provided
annually.


Child Care Home Recruitment
(no cost to provider)
The staff recruits, trains, and monitors child care offered in private homes for the Arizona Department of Economic Security/Child Care Administration. We help providers fulfill all the state licensing requirements to ensure their home is safe and a healthy environment for children. Monitoring visits occur quarterly to check for compliance of the imposed licensing regulations. Training is offered to all newly certified providers within the first 90 days of certification.

Child Care Resource & Referral (CCR&R)

Parents can get referrals to child care centers, preschools, homes and after school programs by calling 325-5778 or 1-800-308- 9000 or clicking on www.azchildcare.org. This program educates parents about selecting appropriate child care. Training for child care providers is also offered.

DES Child Care Home Recruitment

certified child care providers in a home setting for the Arizona Department of Economic Security.

Hands on Quality Accreditation Support

Hands on Quality was designed to assist centers and family child care programs in achieving the highest level of quality. Through technical assistance and mentoring of staff, help is provided to the programs to attain or maintain a level of quality in line with the standards established by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). The children in these programs will have access to the type of programming which will promote school readiness. Brochure

  • 95% of centers applying for reaccreditation with NAEYC have been reaccredited in the last two years.
  • 90% of all centers showed an improvement in their program based on Environment Rating Scale scores.

Quality First!
(must apply to First Things First)
Arizona's voluntary quality improvement program for early care and education programs serving children birth through age five. Child care centers and family child care providers may apply for the program. They will receive financial incentives, professional development, access to child care health consultants, and coaching.


Feeding with Love
In conjunction with the Centers for Disease Control, this program helps family child care homes reduce the risk of childhood obesity by setting standards for nutrition and physical activity. Training and coaching are provided to home providers to implement written wellness policies to keep children healthy.

Project BEST
Infant/toddler care givers receive comprehensive training and on-site technical assistance. Training is based on a nationally recognized curriculum. Participants receive financial incentives and college credit (optional) for their attendance and participation.

School-Age Services
Our School-Age Services offer high quality out-of-school time programs for children aged 5 to 12. Happy Hours is a before-and-after school program offering a variety of creative, recreational and physical activities, as well as enrichment and homework opportunities. Kinder Hours is an extended learning program designed to complement and support existing half day
kindergarten curriculum for a full day of learning. Happy Hours Summer Enrichment is an all-inclusive summer program. All sites care for children with special needs and offer a sliding fee scale, sibling discounts, and accept DES child care subsidies.
