CHILD CARE SERVICES:

Arizona Infant/Toddler Institute
AITI is a comprehensive training program for any individual providing care for children birth to three years old. Training is based on a nationally recognized curriculum. Participants receive financial incentives for their attendance. Call 320-4037. Brochure

Chaparral After School Program
This program provides high quality after school programs at Chaparral Middle School. The program runs Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 3:25 – 4:45 p.m. Classes include wood working, sports, folklorico, cooking, drama, poetry, computers, science and yoga. Call 881-8940. Brochure

Child & Adult Care Food
Family childcare providers are reimbursed for nutritious meals served to children in their care. Nutrition training is provided annually.

DES Child Care Home Recruitment
This program provides training, technical assistance and professional development for people who want to become certified child care providers in a home setting for the Arizona Department of Economic Security. The benefits of an in-home childcare center include extra income, free training, ability to stay home with your own children and be your own boss. Call 321-3764. Brochure

Child Care Resource & Referral
Parents can get referrals to childcare centers, preschools, homes and after school programs by calling 325-5778 or 1-800-308-9000 or clicking on www.azchildcare.org. This program helps to educate parents on selecting appropriate childcare. Training for childcare providers is also offered.

Family to Family
This is a free training program offered to all family childcare providers who work at home throughout Arizona. Family to Family is designed to enhance your skills in providing quality childcare in your home and to build a strong learning environment for the children in your care. Training also includes a self-study manual and CPR/First Aid certification. Call 881-8940. Brochure

Hands on Quality
This program is a quality enhancement project focused on child care centers and family child care providers.  As a collaborative effort between several well-established agencies in the Tucson community, we support improvement efforts through coaching, professional development, early literacy, nutrition, child care nurse consultation and more.  Call 321-3741.

Happy Hours
School-age children participate in after school child care at 10 TUSD elementary schools. A summer program is offered at one school site. Before school and extended programs are available at selected locations. All sites provide care to children with special needs. Go to Happy Hours for more information. Brochure

In-Home Services Program
This in-home service program provides family support, preservation and reunification to children and family members who have been referred by Child Protective Services. Program emphasis is on family stabilization and reunification. Call 881-8940.

Provider Education Program
This program helps home and center-based childcare providers meet the challenges of their job through training workshops, direct support and guidance. Topics include interactive art activities for toddlers, music and movement activities for young children, teaching children about respect and connecting with parents. Call 881-8940.

S*CCEEDS
(Statewide Child Care and Early Education Development System) This is a registry that encourages and tracks the professional and educational growth of individuals in the childcare and early education field. S*CCEEDS approved trainings count towards advancement through a career level system that’s recognized throughout Arizona. For more information, call 1-800-905-4389. Brochure.

Toy & Equipment Lending Library
DES-certified childcare providers who care for a maximum of four children for compensation can get toys and equipment from the Lending Library. Items such as high chairs, portable cribs and sand and water tables can be borrowed for up to 60 days. Call 881-8940.

FAMILY SUPPORT SERVICES

Artisans
This program is designed to maximize the potential for family reunification and avoid placement disruption for children who have been removed from their families and who are involved with Child Protective Services. Call 881-8940. Brochure

Choices for Families
This community-based program offers in-home family support services. Choices for Families promotes positive parenting, organizes children’s playgroups, helps families organize and budget their money while assisting families in maintaining self-sufficiency. Call 881-8940. Brochure

Early Intervention for Infants & Toddlers
Provides home-based intervention for infants, toddlers and their families who meet the eligibility criteria set by the Division of Developmental
Disabilities. A developmental specialist will conduct home visits, assess the child’s skills, suggest activities to promote the child’s development and be an advocate for the child. Call 881-8940.

Father to Father
This program promotes the involvement of fathers in their children’s lives, the value of a father’s positive influence and his effectiveness in increasing his child’s academic achievement. The program provides educational workshops to adolescent and adult fathers and their partners. The program is free and available to fathers, ages 14 and older, who reside in Pima County. Healthy Families
A community-based home visitation program which provides support services beginning at the birth of a child or pre-natally. Healthy Families is designed to reduce stress, enhance family functioning, promote child development and positive parent-child interaction, and minimize the incidence of abuse and neglect. YOUTH PROGRAMS

Girl Talk / Guy Talk Prevention Programs
Middle-school-aged youth learn skills to help them resist sexual activity, drug and alcohol use. They build strong futures in fun, gender-separate, after-school clubs. Call 881-8940. Brochure.

KIDLINE
School-age children, who may be home alone or need someone to talk to can call this free phone line to receive support, information and assistance from trained adults. Kids call 795-8855. Brochure

Liberty Partnership
Provides services to enhance the people and neighborhoods on the southside. The program’s mission is to bring together residents, organizations and agencies that are committed to service the southside communities. Call 881-8940. Brochure.

Pre-Adolescent Diversion Project
Youth (8 to 12) and their families are referred by Juvenile Court to participate in a workshop series. They learn new strategies to manage anger, solve problems, and improve family communication. Youth also complete valuable community service. Call 881-8940. Brochure

The Center for Adolescent Parents
A comprehensive program offering GED prep and high school completion, parenting and life skills, career development, and free on-site child care. Available to young mothers ages 16-21. Call 881-8940.

Youth Empowered for Success (YES)
Develops youth leadership to prevent teen suicide within selected high schools in Pima County. Teens and mentors develop and implement prevention programs within their school settings. Call 881-8940.
